What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and wellbeing through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga. The yoga tradition views each person as unique and multidimensional, with each aspect (body, breath, mind, etc.) having an impact on the whole. With this in mind, the path that yoga therapy takes is also unique for each person and may include yoga poses, breathing practices, and meditation or mindfulness, in addition to recommendations from Ayurveda, often called yoga's “sister science”. 

Who can benefit from Yoga Therapy?

Everyone! Because yoga therapy is aimed at improving health and wellbeing and reconnecting you to your sense of wholeness, rather than fixing something that's wrong, you do not need to be ill or in pain to benefit from this process. I welcome anyone wishing to engage in the process of self-inquiry and healing to come explore how yoga therapy can help. However, there is ongoing and exciting research into the specific benefits of yoga therapy for several chronic physical and mental health conditions, listed below. Individuals suffering from any of these can benefit greatly from the practices of yoga, and even more so when those practices are incorporated with other forms of treatment and support.
